Art Market Productions is excited to announce the return of the Texas Contemporary Art Fair for its fourth year at Houston’s George R. Brown Convention Center from September 4 – 7, 2014.

This year's fair will continue to bring the best in contemporary and modern art by Texas-based galleries, as well as visiting galleries from around the country. In addition to the world-class art on display, we are delighted to introduce new partnerships that will make this year's fair an enhanced artistic and collecting experience.

Texas Contemporary is pleased to announce our continued partnership with the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (CAMH) as the 2014 beneficiary of the Opening Night Preview event. This year, to the pleasure of gallerists and art enthusiasts alike, CAMH board members J.B. Fairbanks, William Goldberg, Yvette & Scott Hill and Judie Oudt will serve as honorary chairs of the Opening Night Preview event. Last year this event garnered $25,000 for the museum.

Drawing on their market knowledge, the success of their Miami Project 2013 and their network of national resources and advisors, Art Market Productions’ founders Max Fishko and Jeffrey Wainhause are thrilled contribute to Texas’ growing art culture with Texas Contemporary’s return to Houston. We hope that Texas Contemporary’s return will once again help ignite interest from both active and new collectors. This year’s exciting range of galleries include Texas’ Inman Gallery, Barbara Davis Gallery, Moody Gallery,McClain Gallery, Devin Borden Gallery, David Shelton Gallery, Art Palace, Gallery Sonja Roesch,Zoya Tommy Contemporary and The Mission. New York's Morgan Lehman, Mixed Greens,Fredericks & Freiser, Other Criteria and the veteran ACA Gallery will exhibit alongside West Coast galleries like Catharine Clark Gallery, Rosamund Felsen Gallery, Kopeikin Gallery and Edward Cella Art + Architecture. We are proud to showcase a solo presentation of 2014 MFAH Core Fellow artist Rodrigo Valenzuela, presented by Portland's Upfor Gallery, as well as a special presentation of the work of Dan Tague by Jonathan Ferrara Gallery.

As always, our cultural partners are an essential part of our fair programming. This year Houston’s own FotoFest will showcase works in their curated booth. CAMH curator Dean Daderko will collaborate with artists Debra Barrera, Nathaniel Donnett, and Carrie Marie Schneider to curate their space. For the past three years, Rice University Art Gallery has put together an exciting booth and we look forward to seeing what they will bring to this year’s show. Having these partners exhibit alongside our art dealers is part of what makes Texas Contemporary a uniquely Houston event.

We are very excited to showcase a full schedule of curated programs and events throughout the duration of the fair. Texas Contemporary will feature a timely series of presentations created in collaboration with our participating galleries, artists and cultural partners. Curated by Houston’s own Glasstire Magazine, the lecture series will feature a conversation with Hugh Forrest, Director of South by Southwest Interactive Festival and a discussion on the Art of Design with Ligne Roset VP Antoine Roset.

VIP guests will be welcomed to Texas Contemporary with a lounge designed by MaRS, Mayfield and Ragni Studio and furnished by Ligne Roset. We are thrilled to have MaRS bring a visionary, exciting and exclusive design to the VIP lounge for its fourth year in a row. We are grateful to our sponsors, The Wall Street Journal and Perrier for helping us create the most exciting and visible event possible for the Houston market. Both organizations are widely known for their commitments and outreach to the artistic community. We are extremely pleased to count them among our sponsors.

Our VIP event series will begin with a kickoff party on Wednesday, September 3rd at the CAMH and is sponsored by Kinzelman Art Consulting. Kinzelman Art Consulting has been an integral part of the success of Texas Contemporary since its conception. It will be followed by a Friday-night bash at the stunning estate of Lucinda and Javier Loya and a Saturday night cocktail reception at the home of Houston collector Marc Melcher. We will also offer an exclusive opportunity to view the Turrell Skyspace at sunset, as well as a number of private tours and receptions at some of Houston’s most important art collections.

Texas Contemporary prides itself on our continued engagement with the Houston arts scene through our year-round series of Access Contemporary events. Access Contemporary offers Houston art lovers the opportunity to engage in the city’s numerous arts institutions and gain an insider’s look into the world of contemporary art. Our free events take place at Houston’s world-class museums and exciting local galleries.

In an effort to integrate our fair into the landscape of Texas’ art institutions and give back to the artistic community, we have developed an innovative charity auction program. Beginning on Thursday, August 21st the auction platform powered by Paddle8 will go live, allowing for online bidding. The artworks up for auction will be on display at the fair until the auction closes on Sunday, September 7th at 6:00pm CT. 100% of the proceeds from each piece will be donated to their corresponding beneficiary. This years beneficiaries are Fresh Arts, Hermann Park Conservancy, Lawndale Art Center and Orange Show Center for Visionary Art.
