According to the ancient greek poet Hesiod, who lived between the 'eighth and seventh century. b. C., who worked in his works to reorganize a genealogical order of the Greek gods, the technique was given to men by the gods to make up for their inherent weakness. The gods possessed the technique not because they invented or learned it, but as a specific and identificative feature of their essence. The Greek word "techne", is commonly translated as "art" in the sense of "expertise", "know-how", "know how to operate."

The study of words embodies truths that aren't to be invented from scratch, but only to be revealed, because they're hidden and ready to rediscover in the etymology of words, already invented by the history of the men who over time have appointed the things of the world, depending on how they knew them. A succession of men who have transformed and reworked the words, going in that way to constitute a collective intelligence lying in the history and that's unaware to the single individual, an intelligence that lives its own life, which is not identifiable in every one of us but that represents all us alive and lived in the history itself.

Hermeneutics is the discipline that puts this purpose, to dust off the roots of words to regain possession of the truth. Hermeneutics by Hermes messenger and interpreter of the gods of Olympus. According to this concept the word "techne" make us understand what's the art, what means the word art namely it means technique, skills, manual or not, to do something that takes place according to a rule. So if we talk about art, using the real and correct meaning of the word, we are far from pure pseudo-conceptual or minimalist approaches that do not involve a study and a method and also from a pure creativity free from rules. The art expect a technique, that can be also so well internalized to became spontaneous.

The tools of painters and sculptors of the past, brushes, chisels, pigments, canvases were the result constructive of the highest technology. So the artist is a technician who knows the method that he himself has invented, is not a mere executor of other people's projects and neither a mere creative without method.

Regain the correct meaning of art allows you to enjoy works of high technical and expressive level, from which emerges unquestionably the skill of the artist, namely the quality of who, for a natural ability and a long practice, he knows and exerts an art, with absolute mastery of the technical resources relating to it. Regain the correct meaning of art means then recognize the artist as the one who decides to take advantage of a divine opportunity, namely to use what Hephaestus and Athena gave to men already during the eighth century BC: the Techne.

"Techne" in ancient greek means art, the root of the Greek word reveals to us how the true meaning of "art" indicates an activity performed through the mastery and skill in the use of technical means, not a pure creative improvisation detached from a method and not even a minimalism that isn't the synthesis of a technical study.
