Louis K. Meisel Gallery, in conjunction with Bernarducci.Meisel.Gallery, is pleased to present a mid-career survey for newly represented painter Yigal Ozeri. From May 7th, 2015 to July 17th, 2015, Ozeri will exhibit new and previously unseen works from a variety of series including Territory, Aquabella, and Bear Mountain as well as portraits commissioned by prominent collectors.

At first glance, Ozeri’s works appear to be photographs, and only upon careful examination does one begin to see evidence of the brush strokes. Working in oil, he has taken Photorealistic figurative painting to a new level of unsurpassed sophistication. Aside from his mastery of technique, Ozeri’s work rejects the cool and unemotional in favor of the Romantic qualities of Pre-Raphaelite styles. Blending reality and fantasy, his paintings explore the relationship between women and nature in a manner that is sometimes disconcerting, but always beautiful.

Having gained an international reputation for craftsmanship and beauty, Yigal Ozeri stands as one of the most impressive figurative painters in Photorealism and the contemporary art world. His paintings have been shown in solo exhibitions internationally and collected by major museums including The Jewish Museum, New York, the Museum of Modern Art, Haifa, Israel, and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. He is a founding member of Mana Contemporary.
