The exhibition features one international artist and art collective: Sangjin Kim and Troika. Notions of the infinite in the multiple visual, cultural and social implications are explored through a variety of new media and installations.

Sangjin Kim

Sangjin Kim practices in the rich seam between language and art. His theories are concerned with the system of human cognition in relation to semiotic perspective. To express this interest in modern theory and science, Kim creates various works using language, sound and time as the main means of representation. His works pay attention to the arbitrary process of receiving and dealing with the sense data of things that we encounter. They reflect the ceaseless cognition of the mind in a state of trance whilst also connecting the colloquial phrase to its Asian historical trajectory exploration of eastern philosophies relates to the words usage in the culture of Eastern Asia from pre history until the present.

Sangjin Kim (b. 1979, Korea) completed his BFA at the Seoul National University andan MA Fine Art at Goldsmiths, London. He has recently exhibited internationally including at the Dreaming Machines, Strategic Project in 4th Moscow International Biennale for Young Art, NCCA (Moscowand at the Kumho Museum (Seoul).

Troika

Troika creates work collectively through detailed research, dialogue and experiment. They have a cross-disciplinary approach and work in various medias such as drawing, sculpture, architecture and contemporary installation. Their work explores juxtapositions between solitude and interaction, transition and permanence and the artificial and the natural.

The arsist trio consisting of Eva Rucki (b.1976, Germany), Conny Freyer (b.1976, Germany) and Sebastien Noel (b.1977, France) have worked together since 2003. They live and work in London and met while studying at the Royal College of Art. Troika have exhibited in numerous international institutions including the Victoria & Albert Museum (UK) and MoMA (USA). Their works have been included in numerous public collections such as The Art Institute of Chicago (USA) and the British Council Collection.
