Tabla Rasa Gallery is pleased to premier a series of new paintings by Peter Gergely in a solo exhibition. The landscapes of "27 Years in the Alps" are the result of 27 years of a love affair with the Alps of northern Italy. The mountains begat not only beauty in life but also lifelong friendships for artist Peter Gergely (who is also an avid gardener and pediatrician) and his partner Val Pierotti.

The inhabitants of these remote places have shared with them their families, their culture and their generosity. Peter and Val watched their lives change as did their own. Referring to the abundance of "earth to table" edible flora, Pete says, "From the early springtime Sclòpits of Carnia and the Urticjons of Murenz to the autumn harvest of Toroldego in Mezzo Lombardo and the winter Ossocollo of Friuli, we were fed with the bounty of these Alpine meadows."

For the artist, these works, rendered in acrylic and latex, are mountain portraits representing loving postcards of places they know and love.
