This exhibition focuses on the landscapes and seascapes of three established artists; Jane Corsellis, Richard Pikesley and David Poole. Each artist has been chosen for this exhibition because of an outstanding ability to capture the essence of a natural environment in traditional mediums, including oil on canvas, watercolour and pastel drawing.

Jane Corsellis had many solo exhibitions with the New Academy Gallery between 1985 and 2004, many of these were hugely successful and she acquired countless admirers and collectors of her paintings. Jane shares her time between London and Pembrokeshire, where she has had a house and a studio for many years. Many of her new landscapes in this show are based on scenes from around her studios in Pembrokeshire and London.

Jane Corsellis has enjoyed a most distinguished career with solo exhibitions in Malaysia, Canada, and Hong Kong. She also exhibits regularly at Messum’s Gallery in Cork Street , New English Art Club and the Royal Watercolour Society. Books about her and her work include ‘Painting Figures in Light’, (Watson and Guptill, 1981) and ‘A Personal View Painting in Oils and Watercolour’ (David and Charles, 2000). Two DVDs are available, ‘Landscapes in Oils’, (APV Films) showing Jane at work in her studio and a second film, ‘Coastal Watercolours’ was released by APV Films in 2004.

Richard Pikesley has previously at exhibited at the Curwen & New Academy Gallery and it is with great pleasure we welcome him back. His stunning oil paintings capture the beauty of sunlit coastlines of various UK locations, including Dorset and Cornwall.

He is a member of the Royal Watercolour Society and the New English Art Club. He has exhibited widely across the UK and abroad, in particular the USA. He was a winner of the Chairman's Prize and the South West Regional Prize - Discerning Eye in 2001. Publications include 'Oils Workshop' (HarperCollins) and a section on landscape painting in ‘The Complete Artist’ (edited by Ken Howard, published by Watson Guptil in U.S. and by Bookmark in the U.K.)

David Poole is particularly well known for his portraits, having undertaken portrait commissions for many members of the Royal Family including The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh and The Queen Mother. His landscapes, here mostly pastel drawings, are rarely seen but much admired by those few who have been lucky enough to see them in his home. David Poole had a solo exhibition of his landscapes with Curwen Gallery in 2008 and this exhibition in 2013 is another of the rare occasions that this aspect of his work has been displayed in a gallery setting.

In 1968 David was elected to the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, which he was made President of in 1983 until 1991. His work is held in Private collections, including those of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh and also in Australia, South Africa, Bermuda, France, Germany, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia and USA.
