Spontaneous Combustion is a yearly festival of dance and performance supported by arebyte gallery. On its 4th year, the festival features two days of performances, a two-week residency programme and a series of workshops open to the public.

On the 19 and 20 of July, performances will be appearing in and around arebyte gallery, taking audiences on a journey around the area. The festival offers artists working across contemporary dance, theatre and performance art an opportunity to relocate current or recent work in unusual spaces around the vibrant areas of Hackney Wick and Bethnal Green.

During the two-week residency at arebyte gallery, four different artists or art collectives will be working in collaboration with David Da Paz to devise a digital app for the festival. Audiences will be able to download the app on Android devices and explore digital content for selected performances on site. Digital content is geo-located and will appear automatically on devises depending on the owner's position in space.

A series of workshops will be held during 19-20 of July at Idea Store Library in Bow. The workshops offer a taste of working creatively with movement, dance and art practices to audiences of all ages. All activities are free and open to all.
