The Society of Designer Craftsmen is celebrating 25 years at the Mall Galleries with the Society’s largest ever show - more than 105 exhibitors displaying works ranging from ceramics to glass, wood to textiles and metal to jewels. In addition to seventy three established designer craftsmen, it will feature work by 32 new graduates who have already made their mark by demonstrating flair, talent and quality in their designs.

To mark the 25th anniversary, there will be a special display of works sized 25 x 25 x 25 cm. The Society challenged its members to create works at this scale and the result is of the most innovative and exciting ever seen at the exhibition.

The exhibition will run from Thursday 8th to Saturday 17th January 2015, and the ‘Shop Within The Show’ encourages visitors to buy and take away their favourite pieces immediately. Christine Dove Chair of the Society of Designer Craftsmen comments: “Our 25th Anniversary at the Mall will be very special, and our members have been inspired to make and show some truly exceptional pieces for everyone to see and buy. This year we set all our members the 25th challenge, and the results will be on display for visitors to see – we expect these to be particularly popular amongst collectors.”

More established makers displaying their work include Heidi Lichterman FSDC – a weaver whose work ranges from very large scale wall hangings of 30 feet or more down to beautiful scarves. Her work is in many public and corporate spaces. She is a former Chairman and launched the Society’s Designer Crafts exhibitions, curating them for 21 years until she stepped down in 2011. http://www.heidilichterman.co.uk/
