Patrick Parrish Gallery is excited to present Jim Walrod’s collection of radical and rare lighting for the first time. This important group of 35+ lamps represents Walrod’s obsessive dedication to the genre, dominated by, but not limited to, Italian lamps from the ‘60s and ‘70s.

Highlights in the collection include Gae Aulenti’s “Table Lamp” from 1967, Superstudio’s “Gherpe” and “Passiflora” lamps, and beautiful, challenging lamps by Ettore Sottsass, Gaetano Pesce, Nanda Vigo, and 21 other well-known and little-known designers, architects, and artists.

Walrod, an interior consultant and author of last year’s I Knew Jim Knew, has a well-established knack for being one step ahead of what people are looking for. According to Parrish, “This collection is a perfect example of Jim’s eye for what is next— enlightening us, quite literally.”

The collection will be on view at Patrick Parrish Gallery March 31 through April 19. An opening party will be held on March 31 from 6-9pm, with Walrod in attendance.

“These lamps were in no way meant to be utilitarian. They were mass produced as expressions of art by the most innovative designers working at the time and were beautiful objects. Just don't try to read a book by them!” - Jim Walrod
