Chesterfield Gallery is pleased to present new work by world-renowned glass artist Michael Schunke.

In his handblown glass "Gradient Series," Schunke masterfully employs the medium’s unique ability to transmit light and color, and builds luminous compositions that are greater than the sum of their parts. Assembled from his distinctive hand-crafted goblets, each individual vessel stands on its own as a skillfully refined and sculpted form. Arranged into collections that develop from subtle tints to saturated tones, Schunke sculpts a visual crescendo of color and light that transcends each component, and relies on each goblet as the sculptural medium itself.

Schunke is perhaps best known among collectors and glassmakers alike for his contemporary, one-of-a-kind, hand-blown glass goblet designs. The goblets are his touchstone in the studio and his foundation as a maker. Schunke believes that a good goblet exemplifies quintessential craftsmanship and is born from practice, rhythm and skill. The artist's goblets have gained worldwide recognition from glass collectors and enthusiasts, and his stemware has been featured in publications including The Glass Quarterly, Veranda, Elle Decor, Traditional Home, Vogue, and New York Spaces.
