Drawing Now Paris, le Salon du Dessin Contemporain will be held for its 6th edition at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, from Thursday 29th March to Sunday 1st April 2012.

Drawing Now Paris is the first contemporary art fair exclusively dedicated to contemporary drawings.

In Spring, in Paris, the fair has become in less than 6 years, a reference for galleries that wish to present drawings of emerging or established artists to young and confirmed collectors, to European institutions and art lovers.

About 80 international galleries will be selected by an independant committee formed by Philippe Piguet, our artistic director, and made up with key figures from the art sector : Alexandra Fau, independant exhibition curator and art critic, Sandra Hegedus Mulliez, collector, Christian Bernard, director of the MAMCO, Marc Donnadieu, curator for contemporary art at the LaM of Villeneuve-d'Asq, Olivier Kaeppelin, director of the Maeght Foundation, and Bernard Point, former director of the Ecole municipale des Beaux-Arts (Fine Art School) in Gennevilliers and its Edouard Manet art gallery.

Drawing Now Paris, le Salon du Dessin Contemporain is organized by CPCT Arts&Events. The two managers are Christine Phal, founder of the show and Carine Tissot, former fair director at Reed Expositions. Phillippe Piguet, art critic and independant curator, joins the team for the third year as artistic director.

Following the last edition, some improvements and new features were introduced, and platforms have been renamed in a concern of unity .

DRAWING NOW l REFERENCE hosts about 65 galleries.

DRAWING NOW l EMERGENCE welcomes about a dozen of galleries to defend young artists’ works.

DRAWING NOW I AWARD will be given for the second time by the Endowment Fund for contemporary drawing supported by SOFERIM. After Catherine Melin, awarded artist in 2011, the selection committee and Brett Littman from the Drawing Center New York will give the Award to one artist under 50 years old presented in solo-show.

Beyond the booth, Drawing Now Paris cares to showcase every aspect of contemporary drawing.

That’s why, other platforms complete the show.

DRAWING NOW I PROJECT ROOM will propose a video program.

DRAWING NOW l RESEAU is an interactive platform for exchanges between artists, gallery owners, art lovers and young collectors, which will be set up for the fair.

In the heart of the fair, Catherine Millet, who answered positively to Philippe Piguet’s invitation, fair artistic director, will revealed its museum without walls of contemporary drawings.

Finally, the Parcours continues beyond the walls with DRAWING NOW I PARCOURS, which brings together modern and contemporary drawing exhibitions held in museums, art centres, foundations and private venues in Paris and around France.
