Texas is a state of mind. We have a big attitude here, big and beautiful; and it is our diversity that makes it that way. Our culture is as contrasting as our landscape; and this is what makes Texas so unique. LuminArte Gallery is proud to present the third annual review of Texas based talent, Texas, It's a Culture Thing will be on display, starting September 13th with a reception from 7-10 pm. Artwork includes paintings, sculpture and photography and will run through October 18th. Participating artists include Patricia Rodriguez, Elizabeth Schowachert, Morgan Addie Grasham, Trent Mann, Cathy Shepherd, Duke Horn, Ben Britt, John Milton, Jane Cornish Smith, Carol Ordemann, Elisabeth Schalij, Joseph Haubert, Steve Ko, Jim Lively, Rick Timmons, Antonia Lazaki, Melissa Stinson Ellis, Jeff McClung, Barbara Elam, Alex Remington, Gabrielle Pruitt, Tom Karges, Brad Albright, Leanne Venier, Bob Nunn, Adina Cicort, Faith Gantz, Jessica Manheim, Eric Hanson, Susan Bishop and Matt Anzak; and several artists will be in attendance in the opening reception. Both the reception and exhibition are free and open to the public.

On Saturday, September 27th, LuminArte will showcase local artist, Judith Seay with an artist reception from 7 - 10 pm. In Artful Reflections, Judith will be exhibiting new paintings and installation sculpture from her latest series of artworks created in 2013 and 2014, including large scale abstract works that serge with dynamic, metallic overlays. “Each decade of my painting career has formed a characteristic style. The metal leafing is the common thread. Art is the thread of my life running in and out as my style changes. Gold leaf is the thread running in and out of my evolving style.”

Dallas born artist, Judith Seay received her fine arts degree from SMU, later studying art at UT and UNT. Recently, Judith has shown in numerous galleries and has been featured in the Dallas Cityartcal as well as in in the Ritz Carlton. She has been a member of several art groups over the years and was a charter member of the MAC and member of the MAC PAC. She has donated many paintings to charitable groups like the Dallas Museum’s Art Ball and the Crystal Charity Ball. She has been in an array of prestigious exhibits, including The Women’s Caucus for the Arts and the National Open Exhibition of the TVAA. Judith has collectors ranging from architects to professional athletes, to international art enthusiasts.

Steve Ko is an internationally known portrait artist and teacher, who is driven by an incredible passion for creating art works in old master's style such as John Singer Sargent. His works are often noted for their unique style and elegance, while combining traditional methods as well as modern techniques. Steve is a member of Portrait Society of America and lives in Dallas, Texas with his wife, Hanna, and his three beautiful children.

Patricia Rodriguez is a native of Oak Cliff, Texas and has been making art and music for over eighteen years. She currently works as a freelance artist, muralist and arts and culture advocate for "Mercado Bilingue" a monthly printed publication. Her mural portfolio includes work for residential and commercial clients as well as working on the prestigious project with Eyecon Murals and Mary Kay to create the largest artwork made solely from makeup and now a Guinness World Record holder.
