Gallery Elena Shchukina is delighted to present From EGO to ID, an exhibition of disparate art, objects and furniture created into vignettes. Wall works by gallery artists Allan Forsyth, Onyeka Ibe, Miguel Kohler-Jan, Laure Hatchuel-Becker and Paul Wright stand in dialogue with design pieces.

In From EGO to ID (the latter a play on Interior Design), EGO represents personal identity. In this case EGO is the art, objects and furniture themselves, with their individual characteristics. The ID represents our natural and instinctual response to the pieces and the groupings - a purely personal and subjective response.

The eclectic combinations come together to make, as gallerist Elena Shchukina puts it, "a glorious whole." An art form in itself, the show's playful curatorial style supports and echoes the developments in interior design in the first part of the 20th century when it first became a profession and where protagonists brought together elements of their free-spirited personal taste, often in eccentric manner.
