Raphael Mazzucco is one of the world’s most influential fashion photographers, critically acclaimed for his singular eye and his captivating aesthetic. His imagery has appeared in fashion editorials for L’Official, France, Italian Vogue, Marie Claire and Vanity Fair.

He is also renowned for his evocative portraits of celebrities and actors including Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Matt Damon and Susan Sarandon.

This new exhibition, launching with a private view on the 16th of April 2015, reveals a body of work that draws inspiration from the world around us and the power of natural beauty. Here Mazzucco depicts the human form set against a backdrop of stunning, remote landscapes spanning the continents, from the black volcanic beaches of Iceland to the wilderness of the outback of Western Australia, from the barren salt flats of the Dead sea to Vietnamese rice paddies.

Through this collection, Mazzucco explores theories of holism – that nature should be viewed as a whole, rather than as individual elements. He draws parallels between the human form and the landscapes from which we hail, exploring the line of the body against the raw landscape.

Photographs taken on location are combined with bursts of coloured oil paint, layers of collage, and hand-lettered texts that are added in the studio. Resin and organic materials lend textural quality to the work. The final large-scale photographic artworks exude movement, spontaneity, light and colour; the hues of sunsets and African heat contrast with the coldness of winter in Montauk.

Notable collectors of Mazzucco’s work include Damien Hirst, Tommy Hilfiger and Carine Roitfeld. He has exhibited internationally, in Milan, Hong Kong, Toronto and New York, and was featured at Art Basel Miami Beach.
