The artist Thelma Vilas Boas presents the solo exhibition "Nada Interessa Mais" (Nothing Else Matters) from the May 12th, 2015 (Tuesday), 7pm to 10pm, at Galeria Mezanino, in Pinheiros neighborhood, in Sao Paulo. The show, which runs until June 6th, 2015, has curated the spanish Maria Inigo Clavo, residing in London.

Result of a series of studies, the artist's work points to the malaise of modern consciousness that indicates the lack of harmony of man with the world. For this show, which marks his first solo in space ruled by art dealer Renato De Cara, will be presented 5 enchantment operations in the form of video, photography, site specific design and performance.

Works

The artist reviews the human existence in the book "Em Busco do Tempo Perdido" (In Search of Lost Time), in which she copied (for 18 months in a row) all 7 volumes (nearly four thousand words in the Brazilian edition) by French writer Marcel Proust, a classic of world literature , published in the century. XX, which completed 100 years in 2013.

In the performance "Arco Voltáico" (Arc Flash), an electrical circuit composed of a powerful battery and two carbon rods separated a certain distance. The initial mechanical contact between the carbon and the passage of an electric current generates an "arc" with high brightness. The public is invited to participate in the work process "Galáxia Imaginativa" (imaginative Galaxy).

"The title anticipates the reversal of proposed points of view on the show. I want to think the man as an observer in space-time and the disappearance not only of light and life, but the history of the universe itself, "adds the artist, who has participated in two collective in Galeria Mezanino.

Thelma Vilas Boas was born in 1967 in São Paulo (SP). Lives and works in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). Degree in Education, major in Mathematics and Science in UNIP, Sao Paulo. Postgraduate degree in Documentary Film by the Getulio Vargas Foundation in São Paulo, in 2011.

It was part of the Study Group taught by Charles Watson, RJ. In 1989, he studied at the Paul Hill School of Black and White Photography in the Peak National Park, and Sir John Cass College of London, Fine Art Photography, both in England.

Released his short film "193" at the Museum of Image and Sound (MIS) in São Paulo, in 2015, also presented previously in Rio de Janeiro. He participated in group exhibitions such as "Rites of Passage" (2014), the Mezzanine Gallery; "30 Years of Fashion Brazil" (2011), the Brazilian Sculpture Museum (MUBE), in São Paulo; "BRAZIL IN THE AIR" (2005), the 5th International Festival of the New Brazilian Art in Caminal Taller in Barcelona (ESP); "Aura" (2002), in São Paulo Fashion Week (Fashion Week); V Biennial Reconcavo Baiano (2000), in Danneman Cultural Center; "The image of Chico Buarque Sound" (1999) and "The Image of Caetano Veloso Sound" (1998), the Imperial Palace, in Rio de Janeiro.
