We are very excited to introduce the next exhibition coming up in the gallery ‘Just Around The Riverbend’ as it awaits a promised adventure and a glorious array of rich land and seascapes. The exhibition opens on 27th February through to the 18th April.

As stated by Edward Hooper “If I could say it in words there would be no reason to paint.” Jonathan Pocock is a long time favourite within the gallery for his beautiful oil paintings that are produced with incredible detail using palette knife which is a hard technique to control and master. Jonathan slowly builds up the layers by painting one layer at a time with the knife to create the rolling hills in his landscapes from around the UK. Jonathan’s work is full of memorabilia of childhoods spent down in the countryside and by the sea. Jonathan’s work is a sure investment for those that want to see their artwork increase in value over the years and would also make a beautiful addition to your living room walls or dining room. Daniel Ablitt paints oil on board creating beautiful Narnia like winter senses with floating lights and distant figures on a journey. His pieces are all about fairy-tale magic and the promises of distant lands, whether it be on mountain tops or woodland scenes Daniel’s work is sure to take you on a journey. For their dreamlike qualities we would recommend placing the works in either a bedroom or living room scenario to compliment your surroundings.

David Taylor has been known as our very own Turner as he encaptures beautiful weather scenes in his landscapes accentuating the light and reflection of the landscape. His use of bright gold’s and heather purples are rich and blended to perfection to give a stunning smooth surfaced piece full of character and breath taking beauty.

Alison Orchard, an acrylic painter creates beautiful weather beaten scenes that capture the rolling sea with waves crashing against the coast or a calm sea on a balmy day. Elaine Jones our abstract landscape artist captures rolling waves coming into shore or flowing out to sea. Her work is all to do with light reflection on water; colours cast within the composition are rich and deep to contrast with the blue of the sea. Expect to find bright pinks, deep reds and pale yellows and oranges. Elaine blends her oils effortlessly together to create a smooth surface on the board as well as creating layers in the paint in sections of the composition, where she wants to show the velocity of the wave and direction the wave is coming from.

Sarah Ross Thompson is our collagraph print maker for the show, producing a collage of raw materials placed in a metal template press and reworked with watercolour to bring each print to life. Sarah uses unusual materials to create her desired effect: sand, orange peel, tea bag staining, wire mesh, tissue paper and watercolour. The sand disperses the colour to create a hazy effect making the colours blend beautifully together and the wire can create gritty criss-cross texture patterns or outline pieces she wishes to capture and separate in the piece.
