Carpenters Workshop Gallery London is pleased to announce that renowned Italian architect and designer Vincenzo de Cotiis will be showcasing a selection of his works for the first time at the Mayfair gallery. The new inspiring furniture pieces taken from his Progetto Domestico collection will be presented as a solo exhibition called ‘Pop Nouveau’.

By using an innovative appropriation of salvaged and reclaimed materials, Vincenzo De Cotiis’s designs are at the same time lavish and sparse, rich and raw, with primacy of material and texture over form and function.

The gallery will be exhibiting pieces that include a large silver-plated brass wall cabinet, a contorted neon-light chandelier in tubular brass, as well as two new wall lamps, a floor lamp, two side tables and a new dining table.

The boundary between free interpretation and a select historical memory generates idyllic forms in this exhibition.

Inspired by the artistic movements of the beginning of the 20th century, a Romantic spirit confronts an innovative Realism in Vincenzo De Cotiis’s latest designs. His influences arise not as style restrictions but as regenerative creations.

Two themes circulate amongst the exhibition: Pop – as a rebellion against stereotypes and Nouveau – the liberation from mechanised forms.

Vincenzo De Cotiis creates transformative and organic pieces that surpass both time and beauty with coffee tables that resemble neo-romantic pools of water, contorted metal light fixtures shaped like twisted branches and table bases rooted like stumps of trees.

The artist references and reinterprets art with just as much emphasis on the design process as the end product.

As a result Vincenzo De Cotiis creates unique, contemporary and highly aesthetic pieces that simultaneously work as pieces of furniture as well as sculptural art.
