In this summer’s exhibition LOOK! New Acquisitions, the Albertina is showing not only important works belonging to its outstanding holdings of post-1945 art but also a selection of its most recent acquisitions in a presentation covering two levels of the museum.

Newly acquired works by established protagonists of the immediate post-war period such as Georg Baselitz, Maria Lassnig, and Alex Katz enter into a fascinating dialogue with the newer artistic stances of contemporary figures. Recently, the Albertina received sizeable donations of artworks by Burhan Doğançay and Johannes Deutsch, a selection of which is now also being presented for the first time.

Included is the Albertina’s first-ever presentation of works by Anna Jermolaewa, Julie Merehtu, Helga Philipp, Markus Schinwald, Nicole Wittenberg, and Stefan Zsaitsits, all of which reinforce the existing collecting emphases on contemporary drawings and prints.
