Chesterfield Gallery is proud to present Tactile/Textile, a group exhibition featuring the work of J. Mikal Davis, London Kaye, Maureen Meyer, Ellannah Sadkin & Jason Tudor. Tactile/Textile aims to exemplify the balance between fine art and design by demonstrating unconventional techniques of textile work.

While the methodology varies greatly from artist-to-artist, this exhibition insists on a common thread: the usage of textile materials within their process. Each artist has their own distinctive approach, ranging from the yarn works of London Kaye, who takes crocheting to a whole new level through her large scale and vibrant imagery, to the stylized use of lace patterns by J. Mikal Davis, the artist formerly known as Hellbent, who creates 3D optical illusions that elevate off the canvas. Abstract artist Ellannah Sadkin is exploring a whole new body of work by constructing large scale soft sculptures, which are a physical representation of her detailed paintings.

Maureen Meyer analyzes the properties of traditional dyes as an artistic medium, particularly Indigo, and creates abstract renditions of unique patterns while Jason Tudor, a multi-disciplined artist, creates organic, free-flowing drawings and digitally renders them to produce textiles and objects.
