"For this show, I’ll be taking over the front gallery space, turning it into a hybrid gallery show / pop-up shop. I’ve always liked making small-edition collectibles; to me it’s a very natural extension of the work that I make. I recently refocused all the patches, pins, toys and other goodies under the Stay Melty brand. So we’ll have a bunch of those goodies in the shop there (and some new suprises as well).

On the gallery walls, I’ll be showing some small pieces, like the painted flattened spray cans. In 2001, I took some flattened cans and drew characters on them and nailed them around Los Angeles. I did some others in San Francisco in 2006. It’s a format that I always like to revisit, though now I really focus on making them super detailed and showing them in galleries. I’ll be working on a variety of paintings on flat surfaces and some objects as well. It’s going to be a great colorful collection of melty imagery in variety of sizes and mediums". With his iconic ‘melty’ characters, bright bold style and infectiously upbeat use of colour, we are excited to see Buff Monster take over with ‘Something Melty This Way Comes’.

Influenced by both Urban Art and Abstract Contemporary, we present works from a group of artists who merge the way between these styles focusing the energy and rawness of classical graffiti with abstract expressionism. Works feature noticeable spray can strokes, fat cap lines, drips and splatters and all the other elementary components of classic graffiti as well as works with more graphic clean lines of geometric precision. Abstract both in the visual language and approach, ‘Adventures in Modern Abstraction’ showcases a collection of works that embrace a vibrant approach to the outer limits of urban art and graffiti.
