World leading Latin American venue, Coya Mayfair, will be showcasing the works of celebrity American photographer, Tyler Shields, from 3rd October 2017. Widely regarded as one of Hollywood’s favourite photographers, Coya Mayfair will be exhibiting ‘Provocateur by Tyler Shields’ in the Pisco Lounge, Main Restaurant and Member’s Club.

To coincide with the opening of the Frieze Art Fair in October, Coya in cooperation with Imitate Modern will be presenting a large-scale exhibition at Coya Mayfair. The show will feature some of the most iconic photographs by Shields, including series capturing the moments of destruction of various luxury objects as well as glamorous photoshoots with some of Hollywood’s best-known names. The show will also feature a new body of work exploring a more sensual side of humanity, which will be exhibited for the first time. For those willing to see more photographs by Tyler Shields, Imitate Modern will be holding an exhibition at the same time at their gallery in Shepherd Market, Mayfair.

From blowing up a Rolls Royce to staging contemporary Marie Antoinette inspired environments to submerging models in couture gowns underwater, Shields takes up every challenge to provoke the viewer’s senses and sensibilities. Shields' photography continues to explore the themes of consumerism, violence, and fantasy, his images often reflecting on the current affairs with a hyperreal lens on the imaginative and the assumed. Tyler Shields’ ‘Three Witches’ photograph was included in Sotheby’s Top 10 Photographs To Collect Under £10,000 in 2016. Most recent projects include music video for Marilyn Manson’s song Say10, and the release of his second photography book ‘Provocateur’ that dominated the charts on Amazon, standing at No.1 in Photography for months after release. In the past Shields has worked with a number of Hollywood’s celebrities including Lindsay Lohan, Mischa Barton, Emma Roberts, Aaron Paul, Lydia Hirst, and more.

Shields’ exhibition follows a wealth of award-winning artist residencies at Coya Mayfair and is part of the Coya Collective initiative; a commitment to art and music, both of which play a key role in creating a dynamic atmosphere individual to Coya. Since its launch, the venue has exhibited a host of emerging artists and provides a calendar of creative initiatives dedicated to the arts for to its members and visitors to enjoy.
