This year’s winning entries in the competition 100 Best Posters 16: Germany Austria Switzerland, chosen by a panel of internationally renowned experts, are to be presented in an exciting show in the MAK Works on Paper Room.

“The talents who succeed in establishing a new aesthetic, who are repeatedly selected year after year, become representatives of a new form of the classical. New trends know no boundaries, every generation owes it to themselves to break with the norms of the previous generation, to devise new codes, to identify themselves with the break, even if these revolutions are ultimately only considered to be developments when viewed from a distance,” comments the chairman of this year’s jury, Alain Le Quernec.

The panel of experts––comprising Alain Le Quernec (Quimper, France; chairman), Eva Dranaz (Vienna), Markus Dreßen (Leipzig), Stefan Guzy (Berlin), and Martin Woodtli (Zurich)––made their selection from a total of 2 116 posters. The competition attracted submissions by 632 designers. Among the 100 top posters and poster series were 52 triumphant projects from Switzerland, 46 from Germany, and two from Austria: studio OrtnerSchinko (Linz) and Benjamin Buchegger from studio Beton – Gruppe für Gestaltung (Vienna/Salzburg/Leipzig) convinced the panel of experts with two completely different graphic approaches.

Responsible this time around for the catalogue’s corporate design, web visuals, and all printed materials is Yuan Wang.
