At the end of the year the stage belongs to the regional artistic production.

Auswahl 18 is presented in partnership between the Aargauer Kunsthaus and the Aargauer Kuratorium. It brings together the latest works of Aargau artists, and grants a rich insight into the contemporary and multi-layered making of art in the Canton.

Two expert juries, one on the part of the Aargauer Kunsthaus and one on the part of the Aargauer Kuratorium, judge the 200 or so portfolios that are submitted every autumn.

In the context of the exhibition the Aargauer Kuratorium issues awards to the works in the field of the visual arts. At the same time the Neue Aargauer Bank AG gives its annual award to a young artist.
