Kopeikin Gallery is proud to present You An Orchestra You a Bomb, the highly anticipated follow up exhibition of new work by Cig Harvey. This is her third solo exhibition at the gallery following You Look at Me Like an Emergency and Gardening at Night.

Coinciding with the publication of her third monograph: You An Orchestra You a Bomb (Schilt Publishing) is also the title of our exhibition. The show opens on Saturday, April 14th with an artist reception and book signing on Saturday May 5th from 4 – 6 pm and continues through May 26th.

Often Referred to as “Visual Fiction” & “Magical Realism” Harvey captures nature and ordinary objects — a bird’s nest, sprig of flowers, or woman’s hands — in a dreamlike state. Her photographs are lush in imagery and saturated in color capturing the sublimely beautiful and sometimes equally disturbing narrative that makes up the artist’s fictitious worlds. Each Harvey photograph captures the slowing down of time and a singular focus of one moment. The result is exquisite.

“You an Orchestra You a Bomb looks at my relationship with life itself. It is work about the future, about paying attention to the fragile present. It makes icons of the everyday and looks at life on the threshold between magic and disaster. “– Cig Harvey
