Modern Eden Gallery presents the fifth major ME solo exhibition from gallery artist Erika Sanada. We started working with Erika in 2013, as she finished up her graduate studies, for her debut solo exhibition 'Odd Things'. After 4 major exhibitions, numerous group shows, magazine spreads in Hi-Fructose and Beautiful Bizarre, and a feature last year at Scope Miami Beach, the young artist continues to push the quality and application of her craft and, on the verge of her fifth major exhibition in San Francisco, firmly establishes herself as one of the top contemporary ceramic artists working today.

In Togetherness, Sanada continues her examination into her personal anxieties through her sculpted creatures. These newest works presents works that expose how one can co-exist with thoughts of distress, fear, and doubts. But not all is hopeless in Sanada’s world, these fragile beings display bravery, strength, and the spirit of survival in the most challenging conditions.

Erika Sanada's early inspirations stemmed from creatures and characters of horror films. Watching these stories were a way for her to escape unpleasant realities during childhood. She creates intricate, hairless ceramic creatures—often adorable but also unsettling and bizarre. Sanada is represented by Modern Eden Gallery in San Francisco where the artist currently lives and works.
