On 13 October, the first Dutch museum exhibition of Sol Calero (Caracas, 1982) will open at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. The installation she is making for the museum will be the concluding presentation in the ‘Sensory Spaces’ series that began in 2013.

Sol Calero is known for her colourful and playful yet socially critical installations that invite the visitor’s participation.

Her exhibition comes at a crucial moment in the history of the museum: the museum is currently constructing Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen, the world’s first publicly accessible art storage facility, and in 2019 it will begin a major renovation of the museum’s buildings. For this reason, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen has asked Calero to reflect on these aspects within her installation.
