Giovanni Bonelli Gallery is pleased to present the first solo show by Francesco Lauretta in its space. The gallery setting was conceived by the artist to explore his personal relationship with painting.

Lauretta says:”(…) I’ve collected some of my paintings and I re-painted them again in a different way (…) I was afraid to meet myself during this work but I didn’t because everything rose brand new..” Two times is a hard re-thinking, is an analysis of his own work and a reflection over the Painting that steadily renews itself. The visitor is guided in an itinerary sprinkled with a great number of oil works on canvas and drawings. The aim of the show is a reflection on Painting, with its crisis and its successes.

“Painting can’t be only beautiful or ugly (..) I don’t think about saving Painting because it has already saved itself (…)” The visitor will find also some sketches-drawings made by Lauretta during the creative experience called “Santa Rosa School”, developed in Florence since last year, in collaboration with the artist Luigi Presicce. This experience is the result of a deep need for creative time and, in general, time for sharing ideas and friendliness, so rare and precious today.
