Discovering his passion for abstract painting early in his career, Feng was part of a group of budding artists who pioneered abstract art in Shanghai in the 1980s.

Nowadays based between New York and Beijing, the artist perceives abstract painting as an internalized conversation, a dialogue between artist and canvas.

The varying strokes of his brush and colours of his palette express the contradictions he experiences between emotion and reason, whereby he feels the two are in constant motion.
