‘Harmony for the Righteous Destiny of Calamity’ is a fresh new body of work by American Painter, Dalek. He returns to the UK for the first time since 2009, to showcase his first exhibition of all new Space Monkey artwork.

Dalek’s Space Monkey was conceived in 1995, incorporating his love of pop culture, the punk scene and cartoons, amalgamated to form this “grinning and malevolent” version of a human being which exists in a pop world of clashing hues.

The Space Monkeys are representations of the human condition, sometimes the human themselves and sometimes the things going on around them.

In 2001 Dalek began his apprenticeship with renowned Japanese artist Takashi Murakami, and by 2007 his paintings developed more layers, becoming deeper and more complex, while his trademark Space Monkeys became less prominent visually in his artwork.

Dalek’s work has been praised and featured in numerous publications, articles and magazines, such as The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. He has also had many solo and group shows all over the US, Japan and Europe. Now it is with great excitement that we welcome ‘Harmony for the Righteous Destiny of Calamity’ to the UK, with the return of his Space Monkey works, alongside Dalek’s bright and complex abstract pieces too.
