The exhibition gives insight into the work of the extraordinary international artist Jean-Luc Mylayne (b. 1946). At first glance, his photographs appear like casually taken everyday images. From rural southern France to the desert lands in the American Southwest, the photographer pursues, in close collaboration with his partner, an artistic project that is both radical and poetic. Ever since his first picture in 1976, his oeuvre revolves exclusively around the encounter with birds. The bird is the protagonist of his carefully constructed scenes but also a conceptual partner on an equal footing.

In cooperation with the Fondation Vincent van Gogh in Arles, the Aargauer Kunsthaus presents Jean-Luc Mylayne’s first institutional solo exhibition in Switzerland. It assembles a thematically arranged body of work created between 1979 and 2008.
