Alon Zakaim Fine Art is proud to showcase a series of important paintings and sculptures from our stand at this year's TEFAF Maastricht. The exhibition will include over 30 works by Impressionist and Modern masters, such as Camille Pissarro, Paul Cézanne, Marc Chagall and Pablo Picasso.

Notable highlights include La femme à l'ombrelle by Louis Anquetin, on loan from a private museum. The painting depicts a fashionably dressed woman out running errands and belongs to the period in which, encouraged by Emile Bernard, Anquetin turned away from his brief experiment with neo-impressionism, and started to develop a painting style that used flat regions of colour and thick, black contour outlines. This new artistic style was an expression of many of the ideas being expounded by the literary symbolists, who frequented the same cafés and engaged in passionate debates with the artists of Anquetin's circle, such as Toulouse-Lautrec and Vincent van Gogh.

The exhibition will also include a selection of pointillist works, including Avant l'orage (La baigneuse) by Henri-Edmond Cross. Painted between November 1907 and January 1908, Avant l'orage exemplifies Cross' preoccupation with the motif of the bather, which for him evoked feelings of idyllicism and also offered an ideal arena in which to play out his mature colour theory.

A small selection of sculpture will also be on display, namely Torse au soleil by Baltasar Lobo, one of the most notable Spanish sculptors of the 20th century. Lobo's sculptural practice focuses on the female form and themes of the mother and child. His elegant style captures the undulating curves and essential femininity of the human body treading the line between figuration and abstraction.

TEFAF Highlights will be on display at Alon Zakaim Fine Art, 5-7 Dover Street, London, W1S 4LD from 1 April-10 May 2019. Gallery opening hours are 9am-6pm, Monday-Friday.
