3+1 Arte Contemporanea is pleased to announce (sunsight!)/(sunclipse!), a solo exhibition by artist Carlos Noronha Feio.

Through his multimedia work, Carlos Noronha Feio analyzes themes such as identity, nationalism and local and global culture. His practice seeks to question preconceived concepts of belonging by assimilating historical, geographical and political references, juxtaposing them to engender his own compositions. In this exhibition, Noronha Feio will expand on his series of Arraiolo rugs which have been core objects of his artistic and theoretical investigation. Inspired by Afghan war rugs, the artist creates his own iconography around futuristic space scenes. By collaborating with local artisans, Noronha Feio places history and tradition in dialogue with the contemporary context and even imagery of the future. Complementing the rugs, the artist will also present the most recent component to his work - a set of texts or text excerpts in golden stainless steel installed throughout the gallery space. Two of them read the words of the exhibition title - (sunsight!) and (sunclipse!).

Carlos Noronha Feio seeks to build critical discourse around the culture system, questioning how we can position ourselves as individuals in relation to a whole.
