Elise S. Haas’s bequest of a large part of her modern art collection to SFMOMA in 1990 transformed the museum’s modern holdings.

Featuring over forty paintings, sculptures, and works on paper created in the first half of the twentieth century by such artists as Constantin Brancusi, Henri Matisse, Henry Moore, Pablo Picasso, and Diego Rivera, this exhibition reveals how Haas built her personal collection and, in turn, contributed to shaping SFMOMA’s.
