New River Fine Art is pleased to announce Gentle Wild, a solo exhibition by Internationally Acclaimed Contemporary Artist, Jennifer JL Jones running from Feb 3, 2022 – March 3, 2022, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Gentle Wild explores what the artist sees as “echoes of life”. In Gentle Wild, artworks reveal abundant wildflowers, vibrant gardens, and ocean rhythms within the cherished and tranquil moments of external and internal reflections. Yet, Gentle Wild also portrays other powerful forces found in Nature – a raw energy of untamed fierceness. Jones reveals brutal strength and power through bold and bright colors. She often describes her paintings as “inner self-portraits”, siting nature in its many layered, intangible forms as a guide and source of ethereal connection and engagement.

Jones says, “I love the idea of nature’s energetic shifts. For example, when gazing out at the expanse of the ocean… at times, the surface appears to be serene and peaceful… yet underneath, it is an entire world of moving parts, an ecosystem full of coral reefs, bioluminescence, deep sea, and all that is stirring unseen. We are all a part of and connected to this natural power, beauty, and chaos. Nature is just so unbelievably and undeniably balanced and magical. Think about the soft breeze that feels so good like a gentle caress on your skin… and yet that same wind can become a mighty storm. In my work I’m using all of this as my inspiration and tapping into the passionate place I now find myself. Maturing has brought a sense of rooted calm as well as a renewed sense of curiosity… equanimity and nurturing inner peace, while the outside world can sometimes appear chaotic."

Gentle Wild, a 72 x 60-inch iconic painting summarizes the exhibition with its sweeping gestures of elegancy and the artist’s monumental build-up of sensual layers that give rise to a magical realm of blossoming extravagance. Explosions of color cascade over the left side of the composition, concealing the coveted shimmer of caressing ripples. Flowers, stems, petals, and foliage welcome the viewer into a world of tranquility.
