Subway Gallery is pleased to announce Tubographical Transactions, an unusual photo exhibition about the London Underground, by Singaporean photographer Yangchen Lin.

Using a variety of photographic approaches in innovative ways, the photographer goes beyond the purely historical, architectural or human aspects of the Underground to capture the intimate relationship between man and machine in the world's oldest underground transport network.

The exhibition is supported by Loxley Colour - main sponsor - and the Photography and Illustration Service of the University of Cambridge.

"The word that best describes my life on the broader scheme of things is probably ‘nomadic’, although it may not appear so to an observer on shorter time scales. I have been on all continents except Antarctica, and I have been in the shadow of the two highest points on earth—check out my travel map. And ‘nomadic’ goes beyond geographical locations to the interests that captivate me at different times, from astronomy and aviation to typography and the philatelic history of colonial Malaya." - Yangchen Lin

The Subway Gallery born on the 6th of June 2006, is situated below Edgware Rd / Harrow Rd crossing in a W2 pedestrian subway underneath landmarks such as Paddington Green, Marylebone flyover and the Metropole Hilton Hotel. Conceived by artist Robert Gordon McHarg III, the space itself is a 1960’s kiosk with glass walls which creates a unique showcase for art, interacting naturally with passers by, visitors and the local community.
