‘…Life is a lot stranger than we think.’’

Having exhibited at Cadogan Contemporary since 1995, this will be Nicky’s tenth exhibition with us and we are immensely proud to present this extraordinary show of her latest work which is surely her finest and most eye catching so far.

Over two years since her last exhibition, these paintings have been created in a strong figurative tradition, confident in their imaginative power. Their cunning observations of the frailty of human behaviour are coupled with warmth and her trademark sense of humour.

The sheer beauty and arresting quality of her colourful work appeals to those viewers who see an abstract quality in her paintings as well as the individual images. The shoals, the herds and groupings of man and beast, the diverse play on the themes of many and multiples provide a rich tapestry which rewards repeated observation.

The exhibition includes the painting ‘Plague Season’ which won The First Impression Award at last year’s Threadneedle Prize exhibition a few months ago, an award perfectly suited to Nicola’s unparalleled work.

Her painting ‘Tiresias’ was recently included in : ‘One Hundred Years, One Hundred Works’ at Royal West of England Academy and is to be part of the permanent collection of the Royal West of England Academy.
