I believe that access to health care is a fundamental human right and I am convinced that an adequate administration of power in the decision-making process, is essential to allocate with a long-term guarantee, the necessary resources to make this a universal reality. I have worked as a health policy researcher, advisor and primary care medical practitioner in Costa Rica and Spain, and as a registered medical disability analyst in the United Kingdom. Inequities in access to quality services between rural areas, cities and marginal urban areas surround us and we must reduce them. As a Medical Manager, I have worked for the public healthcare system in Costa Rica and for international private insurance companies in Spain. I have had the privilege of practicing medicine in all three countries.

I own a Magister Scientiae (MSc) degree in Health Policy, Planning and Financing from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) from the University of London and Master's (MA) in Health Care Management and Administration and a Master's (MA) in Health Economics and Pharmacoeconomics from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) from Barcelona. I was trained as a Medical Doctor in Costa Rica at the Universidad Autónoma de Centro América (UACA), I have a Magister Scientiae (MSc) degree in Administration of Health Centers and Services from the Universidad de Ciencias Médicas (UCIMED) and I have an Advanced Studies Diploma (ASD) in Political Economics from Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM).
