When you set out in search for buried treasure, if you want to strike it rich, this is the place to be: crystals from the High Tauern and throughout the whole world offer testimonial to the beauty of inanimate nature.

The “Riesenbergkristalle” from Salzburg’s Stubach valley, found in 1965, are among the world’s largest quartz crystals, with the largest single crystal weighing in at 618 kilograms! But its size is not all that’s striking about it: the flat surfaces and sharp edges are truly breathtaking – touching is not only permitted, but encouraged!

Magnificent precious and semi-precious stones in their natural crystal form are on display in the so-called “Schatzkammer” (treasure room). Visitors can see emeralds, aquamarines, topazes, garnets, tourmalines, sapphires, rubies, diamonds, and gold – a treasure trove in the true sense of the word.
