This Spring, Richard Beavers Gallery, is elated to announce an exhilarating and powerful exhibition of Muhammad Ali’s most iconic life moments. Award winning photojournalist Michael Gaffney captured a rare insider's view of Ali's world as his personal photographer in 1977-1978. On Saturday, June 17th, we will open our doors to share with you the life and legacy of Ali through the lens of Michael Gaffney honoring the 1-year anniversary of his passing.

Gaffney’s collection of work entitled, “The Champ” showcases intimate images of depicting the boxer both inside and out of the ring. The Champ is a perfect trilogy (The Man, The Fighter, The Greatest) in a year in the life of Muhammad Ali, taking us on a journey with one of the most extraordinary people in our lifetime. These stories - poignant, hilarious and authentic - reveal Ali's true courageous heart and go far beyond his glories in the ring. The Champ sustains the legacy of Muhammad Ali who continues to inspire millions and make the world a better place.

Sunday June 18th, the gallery will host a book signing and discussion with Gaffney, one of the few photographers to get close to, let alone travel the world with Ali. After covering 3 fights, taking 8,000 photographs, and producing hours of extraordinary recordings – Gaffney will be able to share intimate triumphs and struggles that are nothing short of chilling.
